A day at the zoo

This morning, Elijah and I met some friends from church and went to the local zoo. It was Elijah's first zoo trip, and we both really enjoyed it. We had a nice day - it was partly cloudy and not too hot or cold. It was a little chilly when we started, but I think we were all pretty comfortable for the rest of the visit. The zoo here is smaller than Denver's, but it is nice and we got to see most of it before it got too much past nap time. On the way home, Elijah told me about the animals he saw today - zebras, a cheetah, monkeys, giraffes, and elephants! And the elephants were using their trunks to eat grass! He also saw cows and sheep and a pig and a donkey in the farmyard area. E never acted super excited while we were there, but he obviously enjoyed and remembered seeing all the animals. He also enjoyed seeing so many other kids and watching what they were doing. We both enjoyed spending time with Esther, Aiden and Portia and getting to know them better. Portia and Elijah are almost the same age, and they had fun together (as much fun as you can when you're mostly stuck in your strollers). I didn't take as many pictures as I should have, sorry. I did take some video, but the sound is mysteriously missing, and the video is not so interesting without it. Bummer.

E's first view of live elephants - he's mesmerized.

  3. The zoo can be pretty magical at this age. I recently took Cannon and Lindy. Cannon had a blast and we even had to go back to some of the animals to see them again. Lindy seemed bored but the next day couldn't stop talking about it and wanted to know when we would go back. Glad you had fun!
