Rolling over

Molly has been rolling over (from her tummy to her back) for a couple of weeks now, but I had a hard time getting the camera in time to get it on video. She just didn't want to roll over when I had the camera in hand! This is a little long, but I got some cute smiles, so ...

Bubba eats

Just a little video of the boy, eating an apple.

Tonight for dinner Elijah had a bowl of peas and broccoli, two fish sticks (with ketchup), a small piece of chicken, a small piece of pizza, a glass of milk and a bowl of applesauce. Random, I know. We were using up all the leftovers. Anyway, the point is that some days he eats a lot.

The Bubba update

The little man is growing up so fast these days. I realized that I have been posting a lot of pictures lately but not writing much, so I figured I ought to update you all on what Elijah's been doing!

Well, he is 2 years and 4 months old, and getting taller and taller every day. He has become too busy playing and doesn't like it when I make him stop and eat. He does still eat a lot (usually) once I get him in his seat, but getting him in there and convincing him to get started is quite a challenge some days. (Bobbi says he eats like a grown man. That may be a bit of an overstatement, but he does eat a lot more than the other toddlers I know.) He is also a little more picky now than he once was, but he still likes a wide variety of foods and I know I really can't complain. Elijah's favorite foods are mac n' cheese, mixed veggies, grapes, pears, blueberries, tomatoes, yogurt, applesauce, cereal (Cheerios or Alpha-Bits) and all sorts of breakfast foods - pancakes, french toast, eggs, sausage, etc. He also loves anything that he is allowed to dip into ketchup or ranch dressing. (This morning he asked if he could have some ketchup with his applesauce!)

Elijah is really talking up a storm now, and most days he chatters non-stop to me, or Molly, or himself. He likes to sing, too. He still wants me to sing to him most of the time, but he sings along with me and even sings to himself sometimes now, too. His favorite songs are I've been Working on the Railroad, Old MacDonald had a Farm, ABCs, Jesus Loves Me, Psalm 23, and most of the songs on his Rhinoceros Tap CD. I love it when he sings!

The favorite toys around here lately are the wooden train set, construction trucks, and dinosaurs. Elijah likes to color (usually in short bursts, but some days for quite a while) in his car and truck coloring books. We continue to spend a lot of time reading each day, and he knows most of his books by heart. Some of his current favorite books are The Little Engine that Could, his Little People lift-the-flap books, Green Eggs and Ham, and his new potty books (he is very interested in the books, not at all interested in using the potty).

I am very thankful for how great Elijah has always been with Molly. He is kind and gentle almost all the time. We are working on the concept of sharing - hopefully we can make some progress before Molly is old enough to care!

Yep, we've got a pretty special little dude, and we love him a whole lot!

Both looking, and smiling!?! If only Molly didn't have her fingers in her mouth ...

Yep, she loves those fingers!

Loud!

Yesterday, I was hoping to take the kids out to play in the fallen leaves. But I forgot that it was Tuesday. While I was making breakfast, we heard the landscaping guys start their leaf blowers. Elijah enjoyed watching the men using their big equipment to fill their truck with leaves, but now our neighborhood is all cleaned up and there are no more big piles of leaves to play in. Maybe there are enough left on the trees that we could get some piles again before next Tuesday!

Molly with her quilt

Elijah wanted me to take a picture of him with his quilt, too!

He likes to carry it around the house and snuggle or pretend to sleep.

Some more pictures

Molly has been enjoying the Bumbo lately - it's a great way to watch everything that's going on! (Thanks, Diane!)

Yesterday morning, I took advantage of Molly's nap to give Elijah a haircut. It was getting almost into his eyes in front, and was all scraggly in back and over his ears, so it had to be done. It's taken the three months since his last haircut for the top to grow out enough to stop standing up all funny, so I wasn't excited to pay someone to do that again. He hates having his haircut, though, so I wasn't excited to do it myself, either! I managed to get it trimmed - it's too short and all uneven in the front, but we all survived. I strapped him into his seat, let him watch TV, and gave him a lollipop (Sugar! I must be pretty desperate!) - it helped, but it sure wasn't fun for either of us. He had a cool blue tongue afterward!

Hey!

What?

Elijah: Oh, sure, I can smile!
Molly: Huh?

More drool, anyone?

Pictures 2

Knitted Gifts -

This is the sweater that my cousin Jackie made for Molly when she was born. I am excited that she's grown into it now, just in time for cooler weather!

And here is the sweater that Elijah's (grandma) Bobbi made for him for his birthday. He loves the elephant buttons!
